Realm of Sentiments by Janzzyy Boo: Announcement

This book seems like a journal to me, a memento, nothing fancy. This book may sound selfish, but I wrote this for myself. The rain and storms were causing havoc and chaos in my system when I was just in the corner of my room holding my phone. I let my fingers type these emotions and thoughts that drown me. This book will remind me of how far I made it. Silent cries and whims, pillows, and blankets were the sole witnesses of my downfalls in my room. This book contains me introspective thoughts, pieces about appreciation, episodes of lethargy, sadness, and feelings of agony in life. This book contains pieces that may be triggering to some people. The reader's discretion is advised.

I’m a little late, but it’s here! The newest book cover of my debut poetry book, Realm of Sentiments. It’s been a while. As I said in my last announcement, I have a lot on my plate this year, and I’m glad to share this success with you. The content of the book is still the same as in the previous version. For the objective of why I decided to change the book cover, some of the readers and co-authors feedback was about how light the cover theme was, yet the content was a little dark.

Story time. Actually, it was originally planned to be a dark theme because I prefer dark, monochrome colors. However, being indecisive, I was worried that the readers might be hesitant to buy it. My social media and the way I present myself on platforms, especially in aesthetics and art, were always associated with dark colors. I was anxious that the readers and possible buyers, especially acquaintances, might think, “Color black again. Dark colors again.” I was afraid that they might get tired of my preference—that even on a book cover, it has to be the same. So, I went for a light palette. The illustration and symbols are beautifully done, and I approved them because I loved how they turned out. The artist was patient with me, and she was approachable.

Although, along the way, I’ve realized it first myself. The book cover seemed to not fit with the content. The artist has done a great job. The former cover had a minimalist theme with negative space around it, but it was also my request. I can just face-palm myself for being indecisive. After gathering insights and reading personal reviews about my book, I've confirmed it. They also had the same thoughts as me. The book cover seemed to not fit with the content and research for the artist, who could have the same art style in my head. It took a while for this project to be done. Other than the weighing of resources, there’s a priority aside from being an author. I’m grateful for the artists who have been with me, the editors', and the whole team for the effort to bring my work to life.
